Physically Demanding Role works at Otahuhu Industrial Area, Auckland

We are a fast-growing trading company and one of New Zealand’s leading suppliers of garden products and commercial storage solutions. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a reliable, physically capable, and hardworking Warehouse Storeman / Racking Installer to join our team in Otahuhu.

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role suited to someone who enjoys active work, takes pride in doing things properly, and can perform well in a fast-paced warehouse environment. In addition to warehouse duties, this role may also involve assisting with the assembly and on-site installation of shelving and racking systems when required.

 

The Role

This is a full-time, hands-on role working Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a regular Saturday shift (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM) as part of the roster. Flexibility is important, as you may be required to support additional hours during busy periods to ensure smooth warehouse and showroom operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing and dispatching customer orders daily
  • Picking and packing orders in a busy warehouse
  • Loading and unloading trucks, including devanning containers
  • Receiving, checking, and putting away incoming stock
  • Maintaining accurate stock records and keeping the warehouse organised
  • Handling heavy, bulky, and awkward-sized items safely and efficiently as part of daily work
  • Assembling shelving, racking, and other steel structures for warehouse or customer projects
  • Assisting with off-site delivery and installation work, including racking and shelving installation when required
  • Performing general warehouse duties such as cleaning, stock control, and basic maintenance
  • Following all health and safety procedures at all times

What We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, energetic, and comfortable with regular physical work and heavy lifting. You must be willing to roll up your sleeves and help wherever needed.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of warehouse experience
  • Full driver’s licence (forklift licence preferred)
  • Ability to tow a trailer is an advantage
  • Good physical fitness and ability to carry out repetitive manual handling, heavy lifting, and moving large items
  • Comfortable working both in the warehouse and on customer sites when installation help is required
  • Strong attention to detail with good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Basic computer skills (emails, order processing systems – training provided
  • Installation, construction, racking, or handyman experience is an advantage
  • A positive attitude, team spirit, and willingness to learn
